Professional Training for Health Professionals in Mali: Treating and Managing the Health Consequences of FGM

Laurence Lannes is a Senior Economist (Health) at the World Bank. She holds a PHD from LSE and a Masters Degree in health economics from CERDI. Since 2016 when she joined the World Bank, Laurence has supported African countries on health financing reforms in Zimbabwe, DRC, Burundi, Niger and Mali. She has been TTL for Burundi and is now TTL for Niger and Mali working on operations aiming at improving access to quality health and nutrition services as well as girls and women’s empowerment. Prior to joining the Bank, Laurence worked on MENA countries with the African Development Bank. She also has experience in South-East Asia.

Mayada ADIL is doctor, fashion designer and women’s activist and Master candidate in SciencesPo Paris in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action, she also works in economic empowering through fashion lens for women living in vulnerable communities, internally displaced and refugee women in Africa and Europe. Was chosen by the French Foreign ministry to represent the sudanese youth to present the role of art and diaspora in supporting the sudanese revolution in Paris Conference for Sudan May 17th 2021, where she met with French President Emmanuel Macron and emphasis the important role of the youth in bringing democratic transition and uplifting the political and economic situation Sudan is facing.

Isabella Micali Drossos is a French and Brazilian lawyer. She joined the Bank in 1999 and has worked since then as an operational lawyer in Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Region. She has a passion for issues related to gender-based violence (in particular Female Genital Mutilation and Domestic Violence) and collective happiness and well-being in development. She holds degrees in law and in economics from the University of Paris, an LLM from the London School of Economics and a PhD in international public law from the University Pantheon-Sorbonne.

Lou M. C. Granier is a French International Consultant in Development specialized in Gender. She holds a master's degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics, and a joint degree from Queen Mary University of London in Economics and Politics. She then specialized in Gender programming and GBV at the George Washington University. She is specifically dedicated to work toward the eradication of FGM/C and has been working with the World Bank, NGOs, and the National Committee to Combat Harmful Practices in Guinea Bissau while developing operational work in Mali and in Guinea. She is also a member of the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development’s FGM/C Legal Working Group.#EndFGM #SDG5.3
